After you have finished your own masterpiece, you would definitely would want to make it last longer. You gave up all your heart and time just to finish your own painting and it would be a waste if it could be damaged. That’s where frames enter. Frames help protect your arts and also make them more beautiful. The art will sometimes be more exemplified when it is suited with the right frame.

One might think that frames are really costly. If you do get them made to frame services it will cost you a bundle. Making your own frame will be the best thing to do because it will save you a whole lot of money.

Frame making is not that difficult to do. First thing you do is you try to procure the materials needed. You would need the following:
• Moulding of your choice
• A mitre saw that will ensure that the mouldings will fit tightly and together with the cut edges in a right angle.
• A measuring device that will help you cut out a second section exactly the same length as the first.
• Clamping device – the cheapest would be a simple plastic strap wrapped and tightened around the frame once it has been glued and assembled.
• V-nails, bracket wire, glue and a hanging device.

Steps:
1. Cut the mouldings into the required width and height into paired sections. The space should just be enough were the canvass can fit tightly into the frame. Use the mitre saw to make sure that the angles are accurately cut and each section pair’s length are equally cut.
2. Check that the corners are square before gluing sections to the end, assembling and clamping it tightly.
3. Insert one or more V-joints with a mallet or a special device into the back of each joint.
4. When the glue is dry, you can remove the clamping device.
5. Screw the brackets and attach the wire or cord to the back of the frame.

If you think that making a frame is very complicated and would take out your arms by doing so, there are alternatives. You can buy a ready made frame that only needs to be fitted and glued. They are presentable but they only come in few mouldings. You can order them at your local shop or through the internet.

By being able to create the right frame for your painting, you can be sure that you will be giving it the great treatment it deserves.
